Day 2
For Day 2 I've got a picture of some poinsettia's from the Magic Kingdom in Disney World:
Now for the "how-to"...
Here is what the picture looked like straight out of the camera"
30mm lens, ISO 160, f/2.2, 1/250th sec.
My editing steps were:
1- Crop the picture to a 1x1 ratio
2- Apply the Lightroom preset: Who is Wolf-Fable. This is a free preset found here.
3- Increase the Blacks to +39
4- Increase the Clarity to +36
5- Add a white frame around the photos by following these directions in my "Photography Tip" at the end of this post.
done!
And to finish, here is a picture of my kids standing in front of these lovely poinsettia's:
enjoy!
P.S. I would love to hear some feedback of what you would like to see and learn when in comes to taking Christmasy pictures.

Thanks for the great tips! Do you have any pointers to help take better photos at the plethora of pageants, concerts, and recitals this time of year?
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea!
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to pageants, concerts and recitals (all indoor, usually on the darker side), Keep your aperture low and your ISO up. That way you will be able to get a fast shutter speed without having to use your flash. Also, watch that your white balance is on the Florescent or incandescent light setting. This will help with that orange-y look that sometimes accompany indoor pics.
Thanks so much. I love your book ... I got it last month and read it in one night. Great tips! Now I just have to practice, and get light room.
